Help Drive Voter Turnout and Protect Election Results!

If you can get your friends and neighbors excited about a local candidate, they will trust you for recommendations on voting up the ballot from there. That's how we win! Local races are won by a handful of votes, not thousands. City councils, school boards, water districts, and county supervisors: these are the seats where a single vote carries more weight than anywhere else on the ballot, and they're the seats that decide what our daily life actually looks like.

There are more than enough of us worried about rent, class sizes, water rates, and our neighbors who are afraid to leave their houses. We just need all the folks who agree with us to fill out the whole ballot instead of stopping at the top. Start looking at the local candidates in your area and find one or two you can get excited about. Then become a champion for them with everyone you meet—wear a pin, pass out flyers, talk them up. Hold a house party meet n' greet, or plan something at a local park.

Volunteer opportunities with the Contra Costa County Elections Department. Some with stipends are available for before, on and after the November 3rd election, including: Vote By Mail (VBM) extractors, Poll Workers, Inspectors, Clerks and Student Clerks, Election Night Depot Workers, Public Observers and Certified Election Observers. Hours, training/orientation and qualifications will vary.

Swing Left’s Ground Truth Canvassing and how it’s different when it comes to talking with voters: listening, not lecturing.

Knock on doors in the Central Valley with Swing Left East Bay (SLEB) for CA-22 congressional candidate Randy Villegas in Fresno. Also needed: volunteers to drive cooling cars during the canvass, which involves driving to canvassers who need a break. A $100 stipend a day is available to offset the cost of gas and lodging. League of Women Voters, Diablo Valley - go to the LWV Diablo Valley website and select “Get Involved” and/or email voter.services@lwvdv.org for opportunities to help educate and register voters.
