IRCC Visibility Brigade - Messaging During Rush Hour

The Bay Area is home to major traffic conditions, particularly during rush hour. With this in mind, the dedicated members of the IRCC Visibility Brigade have made it a point to get in the sightlines of thousands of commuters three times a week with uplifting, timely, cutting, and often hilarious resistance messaging on the overpasses of Walnut Creek, Lafayette and Martinez.

Wednesday through Friday, the Visibility Brigade shows up with signage, flags, music, pom-poms, dancing, a sense of camaraderie and focus to let the public know we are consistently here, and we are committed to communicating weekly to the local masses. By the amount of honking and waving that takes place from commuters, we are connecting and hopefully uplifting through our presence. We welcome pedestrians and bicyclists who want to join in as they pass by—they often do.

If you’d like to participate, or just honk and wave, here’s the schedule (resuming after Jan. 1, 2026; hours subject to change as the sun starts to set later in the season):

  • Wednesdays, 4 to 5pm at the pedestrian overpass at Ygnacio Valley Rd. and Civic Dr. in Walnut Creek. Info and sign up here.

  • Thursdays, 4 to 5pm at the El Curtola overpass at Highway 24 in Lafyaette. Info and sign up here.

  • Fridays, 3:30 to 5:30 at the overpass at Glacier Dr. and Arnold Dr. in Martinez. Check the IRCC calendar for more info.

You can become part of the IRCC Visibility Brigade subgroup by going to the IRCC Subgroup list and emailing our Subgroup Coordinator at IndivisibleReSistersAssistant@gmail.com. Special shout-out to Shannon for her incredible signage and dance playlist. Thanks to all who participate every week, rain or shine.
