200 Meet at The First IRCC Community Meeting of 2026
On January 25th, more than 200 people gathered at the Mount Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church to reflect on all the IRCC work of 2025 and what we’re working on for 2026. We heard from IRCC founders, watched a film that compiled nearly every event of 2025 in 6.5 minutes, and had a spirited question and announcement open mic to close out the meeting. The day had begun with horrific news that hospital RN Alex Pretti had been killed by U.S. Border Patrol agents while he was observing Minneapolis ICE operations. We are grateful to each other to plan for the urgent needs of so many in year two under this regime.
Founder Kathryn Durham-Hammer spoke about how she founded IRCC during the first Trump administration, and what going forward will entail. Strategic Priorities of 2026 (link below) will include following the Indivisible National guidelines to get us through the year, strengthening our community through local partnerships, such as with Commit to Democracy, and upcoming strategies for the Midterm Elections. We commend all who helped make 2025 a robust effort to save democracy.
The IRCC Strategic Priorities of 2026 Overview is here.
